Hey there Glittersphere
So the other night was my Mum's and my Brothers birthdays. As usual i took plenty of photos and i thought a would share my makeup and hair for the night.
For my hair i used my new BS Sassoon clampless curler. I am in love with this curler, the curls reminded me so much of Taylor Swifts hair and i've always loved her hair.
Face: i used my Revlon Photoready Foundation and concealer. for my eyes i primed with UDPP and used my Crush Cosmetics Neutrals pallete. i wanted to keep to a golden look. Because i just wouldn't be Glittermanda if i didn't use Glitter i applied my Inglot body sparkles in number 56. Its a glitter with a bronzey golden reflex. My Mascara is Max Factors False lash effect. On my cheeks i used macs Well Dressed, and for lips i used my new favourite lipstick, loreal Pretty Peach.
A few of the products mentioned i plan on doing reviews for and/or lots of swatches.

Glitter Me Pretty: Review BYS Mood Changing polish

Product: BYS colour changing mood polish
Price: $4.95 + depending on location
Available From: Gloss and Kmart
My Rating: 4 out of 5
I was a bit skeptical about this polish when I picked it up. I thought it was a great concept but I just didn't see it working.
So last night I finally tested it. Much to my surprised the polish works! When it's cold it goes a pastel purple colour, and when it's hot it goes a pastel pink colour.

Colour when hot

Colour when cold.
The polish dries to a matte consistency, easily rectified with a glossy top coat. I also found this polish dried very fast. It's the first time I've painted my nails in a long time that I haven't needed to use my drip dry. On the downside, The polish did take 4 coats before it was opaque. A small price to pay for a pretty cool concept.
There are a few different colours available and I will be picking them all up.

Glitter Me Pretty: NOTD
Hey there Glittersphere
just a really quick Nail of the Day. Today i have OPI The One That Got Away on my nails, from the Katy Perry collection. I love all of the polishes from the collection, they all girly and very sparkly.
The one that got away, is a pinky red colour, one of my favorite colours to wear during winter. It has a lot of glitter in it. I couldn't seem to get it to photograph very well. The photo above is the best i could get. Now that its dried i want to put teenage dream over top. maybe next time.

Glitter Me Pretty: Revlon Grow Lucious Review
Hey there Glittershere
Today I headed off to work in the waterproof version of my favourite mascara, Revlon's Grow Lucious. After comming home I've decided I wanted to share my thoughts. (photos to come soon, I'm writing this blog from my phone)
Product: Revlon Grow Luscious Waterproof
Price: around $22 (depending on where you purchase)
Available: Any chemist, Big W, KMart and Target
My Rating: 3 out of 5
I love the normal version of this mascara, but I cannot wear it to work as it runs when I get hot. So, I purchased the waterproof version. The first few times I wore it to work I used it on both my top and bottom lashes, I noticed at the end of the day I had black smudges underneath my eyes. I thought maybe it's just from using it on my bottom lashes so I stopped using it there. Today i used the mascara only on my top lashes, while on a break I happened to glance in a mirror, I had the biggest black smudges under my eyes, it honestly looked like I had two black eyes. I thought that maybe I rubbed my eyes, but being that I was using a waterproof mascara there should be no smudges!
I am very dissapointed in this mascara. It does not work as a waterproof mascara. The only reason that I scored it has high as I did is that I still love the formulation. As a regular non-waterproof mascara it is a wonderful product. I will not be using this product again as a waterproof product.

Glitter Me Pretty: Nail ETC Haul
Hi There Glittersphere
So i know i posted a couple of weeks ago saying i was back in full force..... Yeah... i actually got the worst flu i've ever had. I had 2 off of work and spent a very large majority of those two weeks in bed. So i didn't really have the energy to blog, sorry about that. But, I'm healthyish again (still have said flu just alot better) and i'm back with a haul.
A few weeks ago i placed an order at nailetc.com. Below is the polishes that i got.
None of them seem to photograph to their true colours. Atlantis is the closest to the true colour, and as i wear them i will be taking nail polishes swatches and doing nails of the day.
I totally recommend nailetc.com to everyone shopping took about two and half weeks and was the only site in which i could get Mermaids Tears from the POTC collection.

I've been hiding!
Hey there Glittersphere,
So i've been MIA for a while. Whoops! i got caught up in the adventure that was Katy Perry and have just been enjoying my holidays off from work. But i am officially back in action! I've bought a lot of BYS nail polishes today so expect a review. Plus of course plenty of NOTD blogs, book reviews and much more. Of course if there is anything that you would like to see from me feel free to email me.
So, as for the Katy Perry experience... It was AMAZING! Words cannot describe just how much fun i had at the concert. We managed to get down to the front row, off to the side of the stage. While we couldn't see the whole stage there were plenty of big screens and the fact that we were close enough to Katy to see the glitter on her eyes was Amazing!! Even the security guards played around with us. One standing on his platform infront of me poked me in the head (i was wearing a diamante headband around my head) and told me he liked my head band! He was sweet. Katy is a girl that speaks to my heart, everything she has is either covered in glitter or rhinestones.. ahh thats the dream. Katy Perry's concert has infact inspired my latest creative project which i will share with everyone once its complete. May take a while.
And now for your viewing pleasure, some of my photos from the Katy Perry concert
If and when Katy Perry comes back to Australia, or does a tour where ever you may be in the world, i 100% recommend you go see her. I will be probably more then once. I did actually try to go to second show this week but i couldn't, oh well. Hopefully soon it will be Lady Gaga! (i can't wait to plan the makeup for that :o))

Glitter Me Pretty: NOTD BYS In Da Club
I Love to paint my nails so from now on i'm going to be doing Nail Of The Day. Get ready for a lot of them, because i switch up my nails quite often.
Currently i am sporting BYS's In Da Club with OPI's Last Friday Night (from the Katy Perry collection) on top.
i would like to take this opportunity to say that this is the first time i have ever used a BYS nail polish, apart from the disaster that was BYS Cracked, and i am pleasantly surprised. After two coats the blue was vibrant and opaque, i did use three for good measure though. I can't speak for staying power as i am only up to day two. I did however where this manicure to work today and there are no chips, usually even my OPI polishes will chip, i do work a lot with my hands so chipping polishes is no surprise. I will report back with a full BYS polish review.

Where to Online Shop
When it comes to online shopping it can be a bit scary. Sending out your private details over the internet, not being sure where you're sending them, and is it a safe site. Well with this blog post i hope to help.
I've done a lot of online shopping. You can always find something online that you cant get anywhere else. I'd like to share with you the websites that i have successfully shopped on and therefore deem to me safe.
Books
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk - by far my most favorite book site to shop on. Prices can be shown in a number of different currencies, and best of all shipping is free! Shipping to Australia is relatively fast, considering the items are being shipped from the UK. Generally takes 2-3 weeks.
http://www.amazon.com - Everyone has probably heard of Amazon. I've only ever bought books from there but they sell a wide variety of items. Shipping varies as it is measured on weight of the parcel. If i cant find what i want at The Book Depository i can find it at Amazon.
Makeup
http://www.crushcosmetics.com.au - Crush Cosmetics in an Australian online retailer that sells products that are hard to find here in Australia. I have made many purchases at Crush and will make many more in the future. For those of us in Australia shipping is free after you spend $60. For the International customers, $8 flat rate shipping on orders over $40. Definitely a site to check out.
http://www.allcosmeticswholesale.com - All Cosmetics Wholesale or ACW is another one of my favorites. ACW sells high end brands at discounted or wholesale prices. They sell brads such as MAC, Dior, YSL Two Faced and the list goes on. You can quite often find items from older collections on ACW that you near impossible to find elsewhere. Shipping to Australia can be quite pricey but there are a number of shipping options available. Shipping to Australia took around 3 weeks.
http://www.asos.com - Another UK based online retailer. Asos sells everything from clothes to makeup. Shipping to Australia took around 2-3 weeks.
http://www.medusasmakeup.com - A great place to buy a variety of colours and glitters. See my previous posts to learn more about Medusa Makeup.
http://www.sleekmakeup.com - Sleek is a UK based brand. They are probably best known for their iDivine Palettes, which are super pigmented for a very reasonable price. I see myself shopping at Sleek to repurchase a number of items.
http://www.strawberrynet.com - Strawberrynet is a Hong Kong based company. Like ACW they sell a number of high end brands cheaper. StrawberryNet also offer free shipping worldwide, and as a loyalty bonus offer a % off depending on how many purchases you have made with them. One thing to be wary of, i have read a number of reviews saying that StrawberryNet were selling fake MAC products, but everything else should be fine.
Nails
http://www.nailetc.com - For those of us in Australia, find China Glaze and a number of other brands can be hard. Nail ETC is a place to find those hard to find polishes. They also sell OPI at a much cheaper price then we can get them for here in Australia. Shipping costs are based on the number of polishes you buy.
I hope this guide will help you feel safer shopping online. I will continue to add websites as i find them. If anyone knows of any other great websites please leave them in the comments.
Remember, if your worried about somewhere that you would like to purchases something do a Google search for reviews on the site or search youTube for reviews. People will always like to share their experience whether it be good or bad.

Glitter Me Pretty: Medusa Makeup Glitter
Today i come home to find that my much awaited for Medusa Makeup package had arrived. A whole package full of glitter, what more could a girl want.
When i was looking into to buying with Medusa Makeup the first thing i did was to research the company. You can never be too careful when it comes to shopping on the internet. I found many people who had shopped with Medusa and never had a problem. The website was easy to navigate and brightly coloured. The checkout system uses PayPal, you can either log in with your PayPal account or do a one off payment. Medusa do ship international and my parcel took me about 3 weeks to get here (Australia) from purchase date. However, i have to take into account that Easter was in the middle of that, if not for Easter i may have received that parcel last week or earlier this week. So without further ado, I bring you photos. Click on pictures to view at a larger size.
Upon first impressions, i'm in love. All of the glitters are 3grams and are $6USD each. The Fix is 0.2oz and was $7USD. The products were inexpensive and are vast in their colour variety. Medusa Makeup is not tested on animals and carries the PETA cruelty free seal. I can see myself purchasing from Medusa again and again.
Below are swatches of each glitter on my arm using The Fix as a base. I am quite impressed with The Fix the glitter sticks to it rather well and after only a small application is thick and sparkling away. All of the glitters contain a lot of colour, only a small amount is needed to create a bright coloured glittery area.
All of the glitters are finely milled and easily apply. I had a hard time getting the iridescent colours to photograph, while these aren't the most iridescent glitters i have seen they are rather nice. The irisescent glitters are mineral glitters. I cant wait to start using these Medusa Makeup glitters in future looks.
Visit Medusa Makeup at their website Http://www.medusasmakeup.com all you beauty lovers out there will be pleasantly surprised.

Glitter Me Pretty: BYS Cracked
Product: BYS Cracked
Price: $4 at Kmart
My Rating: 1 out of 5
So today i was wondering around the kmart cosmetics depart when i stumbled upon the BYS nail polishes. Some of the colours were quite nice and i seen that they were only $4. i crouched down to get a better look when i seen BYS Cracked! Well i was so excited, this product appears to be a crackle nail polish and it was only $4. I seen that there was a red colour and i snapped that right up, i could see the potential colour combinations already.Price: $4 at Kmart
My Rating: 1 out of 5
As soon as i arrived home and had eaten dinner, i decided it was time. I began by painting my nails white. Simple on the first time out! I waited for my nails to dry as you do with the china glaze crackle polishes. Excitedly i opened the bottle and painted my thumb nail. I noticed that unlike the china glaze crackle that the polish did not immediately begin to crack, still giving the polish the benefit of the doubt i painted the next nail. Still no cracking. I read the instructions on the back of the packaging which explained that the polish cracks as its drying. I could see that it was still wet so i continued to paint the rest of the nails on my hand.
After about 5 minutes i look back at my nails expecting (hoping) to see some beautiful cracks. Nothing.... Actually nothing is a bit extreme. The polish did crack very slightly but it appeared more to look like chipped nails then a good crackle polish.
As you can imagine i was and am very disappointed. The only relieving factor is that this polish only cost me $4. I see in hindsight that i should have taken photos or of videoed it, to show the blogosphere or youTube the results that have disappointed me so. I was just so devastated that i wanted something nice on my nails (China Glaze to the rescue). I will take photos and/or video it when i can bear to face the disappointment again. Who knows maybe second time round it will work. So Stay tuned for those photos.
Until next time.

Books Ahoy! Tomorrow, When the War Began
Title: Tomorrow, When the War Began
Author: John Marsden
Publisher: Pan Macmillan
My Rating: 4 out of 5
Tomorrow, When the War Began is a young adult book which is the first book of the Tomorrow Series. The Book is about a group of teenagers, who after camping find that their country (Australia) has been invaded and is at war.
Basic Plot Summary: Ellie and a group of her friends go camping in a secluded part of the Australian bush before their return to school. After they return home they find that their small town of Wirrawee has been invaded by a foreign country, and the residents are being held captive. The group take on a somewhat guerrilla style of warfare to try to win back their small town from the invading forces.
When i first began reading this book i was slightly turned off by the style of writing. Marsden has written this book in first person, with the main character of Ellie telling the story. I have read a number of books in this style and i generally prefer them, the thing that turned me off was that this book was written as if you were sitting talking to this character. Including the character jumping around topics and including personal remarks. This did, however, seem to not be included in the rest of the book and I therefore began to enjoy this style of writing again.
Tomorrow, When the War Began had everything that i could possibly want from a book, romance, drama and thrills. I was kept on my toes while reading this book and would find myself reading into the early hours of the morning. After putting the books down for the night i would often lie there thinking about what i just read. This is the first book of this genre that i have read and i now wonder why i didn't read them sooner.
As soon as i finished this book i picked up the next, The Dead of The Night. This book will be my next review.

My First Blog
So i thought the first blog would be a good one to explain what the blog will be about. I think that you may be able to take a guess from the title Books 'n' Glitter. I want to combine two of my favorite things in life. Books and Makeup. So basically I'm going to be using the blog for Book reviews and Makeup reviews! I will give them different titles so everybody can distinguish the two, so if you only want to read one sort of review you know which one is which.
